Facing Miles Canyon: 24 minutes, In the summer of 1999, Whitehorse painter and poet, Neil Graham, began a series of paintings depicting the volcanic rock walls of Miles Canyon, a natural landmark on the Yukon River. Three years later, with a successful showing of his work behind him, Neil remains haunted by his intriguing subject - “I thought I was done with Miles Canyon, but I don't think Miles Canyon is done with me.”
With disarming honesty, Neil shares how his personal history informs his artistic process. His unique vision reveals the faces, figures and spirits of Miles Canyon, but as the profound connection he develops with his subject begins to influence his life, Neil finds he must face some demons of his own before he can leave Miles Canyon behind. Featuring music by Canadian composer Daniel Janke, and dramatic images of this historic landmark, Facing Miles Canyon follows Neil as he uncovers the true character of these rock walls.
