Commissioned to gather botanical specimens for the Kew Gardens, and ethnological specimens for Cambridge University, Miss Hutchison left Manchester in 1933 and proceeded by the Panama Canal to Vancouver and Skagway, thence by rail to Whitehorse, by river steamboat to Dawson and Nenanna, by airplane to Nome, by schooner to Point Barrow, and Martin Point, by dogsled to Herschel Island, Shingle Point, and Aklavik, by airplane to Waterways, and by train to Edmonton.
