Few populations are more thoroughly documented in the pattern of their marriages and geographical distribution than the people who developed the Red River Settlement between 1820 and 1870. this volume is the product of an attempt to record such information, to file the data by individual household, and to link the files of households across generations. An historical introduction is offered for general background to the growth of the community from its earliest beginnings to dispersal after 1870. But the bulk of the work consists of tabular material from which family histories are easily constructed.
