I must say that the title of this one put me off. Fish crying wolf? Why not
‘shark!”? Something like Tiddler Told a Tale might have been a better
choice, because that’s just what the little fish called Tiddler did. He
was forever late for his school (heh) and he always had a fantastic excuse to
give his teacher.
The good thing about this is that other creatures enjoyed Tiddler’s tales
and repeated them far and wide, making a chain of storytellers that Tiddler
was able to follow to get back home during the one time when something fantastic
and nearly horrible did almost happen to him.
I won’t tell you what that was and exactly how the story chain worked,
but it’s a cute poem with a bouncy little rhyme scheme and the illustrations
actually do help to tell the tale.
