Wallace Edwards, the author/illustrator of Alphabeasts, is back with another whimsical look at our language. In this case, he's decided to illustrate twenty-six idioms. His delightful representations are inhabited by animals giving us very literal interpretations of such phrases as monkey business, letting the cat out of the bag, a fish out of water, off-the-wall, opening a can of worms, and playing by ear. I'm sure you can imagine the results.
Edwards' art is lush and detailed, and he lends a real presence to what is, essentially, a Mad magazine sort of concept. The book is labeled as being for all ages and all grades, and I'd certainly have to agree with that.
