The latest paperback I’ve seen from the For Better or For Worse collection celebrates the year that April began to learn to play the guitar, John got serious about model trains, Michael and Deana got married in secret, Elizabeth began a relationship with a real cad, and Elly took over the ownership of Lilliput’s Books & Toys. It was a busy year for the Patterson family, and a fine example of what keeps readers glued to this daily and weekly comic strip.

I read recently that Johnston is thinking about hanging up her drawing pencils and closing the book on her family. She feels tired and thinks she’s running out of inspiration. You couldn’t prove that with this book, nor with the current sequences in last week’s paper.
