Eye Opener Bob: Story of Bob Edwards
Front Cover

At a meeting of the Men's Canadian Club of Calgary in 1954, this question was presented to the members: “Considering intelligence, originality and public influence , whom would you name as Alberta's Prize Personality?” In the balloting which followed, Bob Edwards, founder, publisher and one-man staff of the Calgary Eye Opener, received the highest number of votes.

Evidently it never occurred to Bob Edwards that somebody might one day wish to write the story of his storm-beaten career, and he left nothing by way of personal records apart from what appeared in copies of the Eye Opener. To make matters worse for a person attempting his biography, not all issues of the paper have survived. Happily, however, many of the pioneer citizens have good memories.
