Face the North Wind: In the 1920's two hardy Canadian cousins began careers as trappers in northern Saskatchewan. Setting out their traplines in adjacent territories in an area roughly defined by Cree, Wollaston, and Reindeer Lakes, Fred Darbyshire and Ed Theriau evolved from innocent greenhorns to expert trappers at a time when modern conveniences were unheard of in this part of the country. They learned how to live off the land, how to handle sleigh dogs, and how to find their way unerringly through a huge and totally unsettled area of unmapped valleys and uncharted waterways.
